Posted on June 6, 2011

20 year old IU student Lauren Spierer has now been missing for over 72 hours.

After a night spent with friends at Kilroy’s Sports Bar on Walnut Avenue, Spierer was last seen walking south on College Avenue at 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

Video footage shows that she never made it back to her Smallwood apartment.

Lauren is described as 4’11” and 95 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing black pants and a white top when she disappeared.

Spierer’s parents flew in on Saturday morning from her hometown of Westchester County, New York to search for their daughter. Additionally, the Bloomington Police Department, friends of Spierer, and volunteers throughout the Bloomington community have come forth to help locate her.

Social media websites, such as Twitter and Facebook, are helping to spread awareness regarding Spierer’s disappearance and accumulate information from anyone who has it.

A Twitter account under the handle NewsOnLaurenS and a Facebook page named Lauren Spierer Missing have both amassed over 1,000 followers.

According to Spierer’s parents, she suffers from a heart condition called Long QT syndrome, which makes the search for her all the more pressing.

Anyone who has more information about Spierer is strongly encouraged to contact the Bloomington Police Department at 812-339-4477.

Search parties will continue to meet today. Two search parties went out at 10:00 and 1:00 and one other will meet in front of Smallwood at 5:30 P.M.

UPDATE: Search parties will continue every morning around 11 a.m., every afternoon around 1 p.m. and every evening around 5:30 p.m. Check back to the site for official search times.
