Last week the IU chapter of Building Tomorrow hosted “Bike to Uganda,” an event aimed at raising money to fund education in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The fundraiser aimed to unite the Bloomington community and help communities in Uganda by collectively biking the distance from Bloomington to Kampala, Uganda (7,710 miles). Registration for the annual event was only $5, and included participants’ bike rental.

Volunteers leased bikes all week at 10th and Fee Lane and outside of Ballantine Hall. IU, along with nine other universities, helped this charity raise over $55,000.

The IU chapter holds meetings every Tuesday evening at 8 in Ballantine 140. Foe more information about this organization and the fundraiser, visit biketouganda.org.
